Billie Eilish: “Nobody Criticizes Men’s Bodies”

In an interview, Billie Eilish addressed the disparity in how men and women’s bodies are judged, sparking controversy with her choice of words. The singer’s remarks didn’t sit well on the internet, as some accused Billie Eilish of lacking empathy for men. In a conversation with “Variety,” the American singer expressed frustration, stating, “Nobody criticizes men’s bodies. But a woman is in a constant battle. That’s really unfair.” Eilish went on to claim that men’s privilege of not being judged for their appearance is owed to women. “Women couldn’t care less about looks because we see people for who they truly are,” she confidently asserted.

As a seven-time Grammy winner, who also secured an Oscar for the James Bond title “No Time To Die,” Eilish is among the most vocal advocates of body positivity and respect for all bodies, irrespective of beauty standards, in the United States. The 22-year-old singer has repeatedly shared her experiences of being ridiculed in the past due to her fuller figure. However, her recent pivot to criticize men in this context faced backlash on social media. Following the release of the “Variety” interview, many fans accused her of insensitivity and being out of touch with reality.
